We understand that the purpose of developing disciplined behaviour in students is to create the most appropriate and conducive learning environment. At Arsha we believe that disciplining is not the control of children but the shaping of behaviour which will inspire and instruct children within a frame work of Rights and Responsibilities. We believe that it is the responsibility of teachers and students to ensure that their behaviour is the result of a clear understanding of the rules and norms of interaction.

While the school community encourages that every individual student takes responsibility for their behaviour we also use a discipline counter system which is a classical method based on the principles of the ‘Token economy’ to develop a peer group responsibility towards maintaining discipline. In addition the teacher rather than serving the role as an authority from whom discipline is foisted is encouraged to serve the role to listen and offer counsel to the student. The positive influence of the teacher to serve as a benefactor, guide and counsellor and not as a ‘controller’ is a welcome change. To further strengthen the process to manage positive behaviours amongst students we have encouraged that discipline be placed within the domain of the students rather than with the teachers. A Student Counselling Group chosen by the student community deals with the breaches and where required seeks the assistance of the teacher in case they have challenges in counselling or when not certain on how to proceed .
