Sounds, words, and strings of words—they can be joyful, emotional, and persuasive, with an infinite number of interpretations. Yet, their most fundamental purpose, the reason they were created, was to connect, interact, and empower people meaningfully. Today, we find ourselves at a crossroad, questioning where things went wrong and trying to reignite the very purpose of communication itself.
The lines have blurred. The rules have dissolved. Capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks, and question marks—it all seems to be fair game now. But is purpose something that needs to be bound by rules? Is it elevated by them? Does purpose achieve its winning moment and identity because of its rules?
What, then, is a "rule"? We can think of them as dots on a page, with a line connecting one to the next. The lines themselves can have different shapes, but their job is always to link. The culmination of everything we learn has a clear purpose: to be understood, to be comprehended, to be worked on, and to be implemented. The essence of our learning cannot be diluted.
Every day, as educators, we strive to strike the right chord, to make learning interesting and impactful. The purpose behind the work of so many individuals is often evident, but somewhere along the way, we must also ensure our own satisfaction. We plan, design, and create so that we feel a sense of joy when we see children learn.
When learning is mutual and complementary, and satisfaction becomes boundless when guided by purpose and principles, the true power of education emerges. When the core understanding of passion, commitment, and shared responsibility is fully embraced, the drive behind our work grows enormous—engaging, energizing, and profoundly fruitful. Each effort, each connection, each insight is a dot.
