The Physics of Interstellar: Decoded by Dr. Sushant Raut

Kalpana R

We were thrilled to host Dr. Sushant Raut from Krea University for a captivating session that masterfully decoded the science behind the movie Interstellar! Dr. Raut demystified some of the most complex concepts in modern physics, making them accessible and engaging for the audience.

He began by revisiting the foundations of gravitational theory—from Newton’s law of universal gravitation to Einstein’s concept of spacetime curvature. From there, the session explored black holes, tidal forces, and the dramatic phenomenon known as “spaghettification.”

One of the standout elements of the talk was how effortlessly Dr. Raut connected these theories to key scenes from Interstellar. Using carefully selected video clips and simulations, he demonstrated just how scientifically accurate the film is, bringing abstract concepts to life through visuals students could immediately relate to.

This was most evident during the lively question-and-answer segment, where students and teachers posed insightful questions ranging from the practicalities of space travel to the philosophical implications of time dilation and higher dimensions.

Overall, the event offered our school community a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge scientific ideas in an engaging, relatable way.

His session not only illuminated the wonders of our universe but also reminded us of the limitless possibilities that curiosity and science can unlock.
